Objectives

The charity’s primary objective is to facilitate the rehoming of any llama in the UK, and to give it a home for as long as needed - permanently if required. We provide ongoing care, feed, shelter, and medical / veterinary expertise for as long as the animal is with us. Llamas who live with us are not expected to serve a purpose - we accept every animal ‘as is’, and work with any pre-existing health or behavioural conditions. Due to the nature of our work, we are also involved in llama welfare cases, and offer authorities specialist llama related advice when and as necessary.

Our secondary objective is to work with community groups - schools, scout groups, people with additional learning requirements - and to make llamas accessible to them, for educational and mental health purposes.

Finally, we are firm believers in maintaining the balance between nature, livestock, and humanity. This is our guiding principle when ‘managing’ sanctuary land - there should be room for everyone to happily co-exist. In addition to providing the llamas living here with the best existence possible, we also ensure there is a wide diversity of natural habitats made available on our land for wildlife, and all wildlife is treated equally - be they mammals, birds, lizards, amphibians, and invertebrates. We aim to operate the charity in a sustainable manner, with zero waste and zero carbon footprint.
